Application Guidelines

Worlds Best Hoof Oil is designed to be applied lightly. The oil applies easily and remains fluid in cold morning and winter conditions.

Directions for Use

Shake the bottle well before use to ensure the oils are evenly mixed.

Apply a light coat to the hoof using the brush, paying particular attention to the area on and just above the coronet band. Cover the entire hoof face from top to bottom.

Avoid heavy application. Applying more product than recommended does not improve effectiveness and may result in unnecessary product use.

The oil absorbs readily into the hoof surface. When applied to a wet hoof, it spreads evenly without pooling or forming residue that attracts dirt or dust and is not easily brushed or wiped away.

Because the oil does not form a surface seal, it allows the hoof to remain in its natural state while remaining suitable for use in varying seasonal conditions.

Normal Upkeep (Routine Hoof Care)

For routine hoof care, apply every second day after work. Frequency may be adjusted depending on weather conditions and environment. Under normal circumstances, a hoof in good condition generally requires up to four applications per week, even for horses that are worked and washed daily.

For horses not in regular work, application may be reduced to  two to three times per week.
Apply a  light coat to the entire hoof, paying particular attention to the area on and just above the coronet band and the full face of the hoof. The frog and sole should be treated no more than once or twice a week.
Avoid over-application, particularly to the frog and sole, as excessive product use is unnecessary. A light, measured application is sufficient for routine care.

Increased Application for Compromised or Dry Hooves
Hooves Showing Dryness, Chipping, or Surface Splitting
For hooves showing signs of dryness, chipping, or splitting, increase application frequency to up to five times per week for the first week, then return to the Normal Upkeep schedule.
Apply a light coat to the entire hoof, paying particular attention to the area on and just above the coronet band. During the initial week, the sole and the frog may also be treated lightly, no more than once or twice during the week.

Hooves Requiring More Intensive Management
Where hooves are severely dry, cracked, or environmentally compromised, a more frequent application schedule may be used initially.
For the first two weeks, apply lightly to the top and bottom of the hoof once daily. This may then be reduced to top application only, with particular attention to the coronet band, for a further two weeks, depending on the condition of the hoof.
Following this period, return to a Normal Upkeep schedule of two to four applications per week.
During ongoing maintenance, the frog and sole should be treated no more than once or twice per week.

Seasonal and Ongoing Care Considerations
Regular hoof care is important throughout the year. Environmental conditions such as prolonged wet or dry periods may influence how often the product is applied. Maintaining a consistent routine across all seasons supports overall hoof management as part of good horse husbandry.

Hoof Cleaning and Preparation

Regular hoof cleaning forms an important part of routine hoof care. Using a hoof pick allows dirt, debris, and compacted material to be removed from the sole, frog, bars and areas around shoes or plates that are not easily reached by brushing alone.

Cleaning the hoof thoroughly before application helps ensure the hoof surface is free from buildup and allows for consistent inspection as part of everyday horse management.

Directions

Clean the entire hoof daily using a hoof pick ensuring the sole, frog, bars, and surrounding areas are clear of debris. Once clean, apply Worlds Best Hoof Oil as required, following the application guidelines and adjusting frequency according to conditions.
